The Shield

Jake Tapley

The Shield’s Cone Concert series features talented local musicians performing original songs in front of a small audience in the University of Southern Indiana’s Traditions Lounge, which is known to many as “The Cone.”

Our latest concert featuring Jake Tapley was recorded in March 28, 2013.

Jake Tapley is an Evansville native who has been writing songs ever since he was a tyke. Interested in both creative writing and singing at a young age, it seemed to be the perfect fit. In high school, after filling up notebook after notebook with lyrics, he decided to borrow his younger brother’s acoustic guitar and take his songwriting a step further.

Now, as a sophomore Creative Writing major at USI, all of his life’s passions are starting to align. In March of 2013, he released his first EP, “Spaces In Between,” and has been playing and promoting it at local venues. His sound, culminating the melodies found in pop music with the stylings of folk and rock, explores old territory in a new way. Currently in the process of writing and putting together new material for a full-length release, he has already experienced so much progress as an artist and as a person, in general. Grateful to have even made it this far, he is excited for the road ahead.

Tapley’s Set List:
